Default High pitched whine from radio

Just picked up an 03GT and there is a high pitch whine or squeal coming from the radio....NOT through the speakers...from the head unit. It starts from the moment I insert the key and I can change the pitch by changing any setting on the radio. Seems like each different display (clock, radio station, cd) has a slightly different sound. Radio works fine, actually sounds pretty good for a OEM unit. This is the indash CD changer model...Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Mark

Found this on-line:

The experts always say it's a bad ground connection at the antenna or a bad ground connection at the head unit using the antenna wire as the ground cable.

You can run a better ground from the radio to a metal part of the vehicle chassis. That might work. You can check the ground connection at the fender where the antenna fits in. Use an ohmmeter. Or get an isolator for the antenna which plugs into the stereo and the antenna plugs into the isolator.

Scroll down this page: Installer.com - ACCESSORIES and you'll see the above pictured isolator for $12.95.

There are many different brands. Just search for "car antenna isolator" or something along those lines.

I have the same problem after installing a Sony deck. I've just been too busy to pull it out of the dash to fix it. I never listen to the radio anyhow. Maybe this weekend as I'm pulling the interior for sound deadening install.

Hmmm, could be a ground, but I would expect that to do the "audio tach" thing through the speakers. It's strange that the sound I'm getting is from the head unit it's self, even when the radio is off (but the car is on), I swear it's coming from the little display.
I don't see a seprate ground for the antenna, but I sure can add a little strap to the radio chassis itself. Along with replacing muffler ground and RF suspension ground leads.

Well, the radio has good ground and I removed the top but can't see or feel where the sound is coming from because the top circut board is soldered to the radio chassis. It's got to be the display or some component deep inside is oscillating. I think another head unit might be the next thing to try.
