Smile Catch Can?

Hello Again,

Being a relatively new owner, I pulled the upper intake manifold off to check the condition of the plugs (which were all good and new) and noticed how oily the intake was inside. Is that the reason for the catch can I have read about in the posts?

Are they worth putting on? It seemed strange to have so much oil in the intake. There is no smoking or excessive blowby and I have replaced the PCV valve. The engine is a 2005 NA with 70,485 miles.

Some of you who have used, please let me know about your experience.

Thanks,

RJ

I got one from Sears and yes, I think it is worthwhile. When I look at how much it collects, I know I don't want that in my combustion chambers. You should be able to find it in the section for compressor tools. Empty it regularly...

I don't mind about oil taht would get in combustion chambers - it's the oil in the intake that gums things up is why I favor a catch can.
Mine ran about $20 - about 15 for the filter, a few bucks for some gas line hose (sold by the foot at auto stores) and clamps.

Understood. The Sears one ran about $35. Where did you get yours?
