Default Pt muffler

I am looking into replacing my stock muffler and getting a better sounding one! I was told to get one that gives back presure and not one that is just a free flow, Is this correct? If so what is a good brand. I am also just runing the stock 2.4 non turbo with a k&N air filter.

to be honest its a waste of money to buy a new one just take it off. its what i did with mine sounds really good and turbo spoils up faster but cant promise it will pass inspection.

matt, do you know what Cowboy drives. If it's not a Turbo, he's going to loose more than gain because the N/A PT needs back pressure. Yours, being a Turbo can do without that back pressure. What's good for one is not good for all.

I had the DynoMax #17732 before I hooked with someone that was giving away the California Cruiser dual exhaust. It sounded good to me but whats music to one is noise to another.. I liked the duals but a little bit too loud so I added a resonator to tone it down.

Check out the flowmaster for 125 bucks shipped in the dealer forums, I have that set up, feel free to just use the muffler and the tip for loudness, but the resonator gives it a nice stock loudnessbut lower sound. Check out the thread on my blog about it.

i did a muffler swap with a Flowmaster Super 44. It has two chambers in it so it's gonna be louder then Dill's. The one that Dill got has a 50 serise delta flow muffler with three chambers. His sounds good too but if you want ppl to know your home i'd go with the Super 44. lol if you want some thing deep smooth, and subtle, get the full cat back Dill's talking about. I almost did.

Yah i love mine, as its gotten work in its certainly a bit louder, it retains the stock loudness at idle but gets nice and loud for the cars around you (but notthe folks in their bed inside their houses).

But you could even get the kit for pure price and just install the muffler and not the resonator.

Personally i didnt want too loud of a PT but its good to know I can remove the resonator and be ridin much louder

I strongly suggest you find a PT group near you and listen to what you're thinking of before you buy - music to one is noise to another. Lots of posts about folks who got a "drone" at certain speeds.
Also consider an intake or at least a K&N air filter to help "breathing".

My blog has a Sound clip of stock vs my new exhaust system.

I attempted to record a sound of the car at highway speeds but it was useless cause there was no drone to listen for!
