Default 2004 PT Cruiser, high pitch whine

I have a 2004 PT Cruiser, non turbo, has 111,000 or so. I recently noticed a high pitched whine when I accellerate. It does continue whether I turn or go straight. It is harder to hear it when I am at highway speeds. Does not make the sound when at a stop and idle. I keep up with the maintenance of the vehicle. Also noticed a clicking sound for the first couple seconds when I start the car but goes away and feels like its in front and low from the drivers position. Finally when car sits overnight, I start the car and the oil light stays on, I turn off the car and restart it goes off. It does not come on at all when driving, only when starting occasionally. Check the oil regularly and not losing any. Mechanic does not think its the oil pump. Any ideas!!!

Did you do your timing belt, water pump, idler pulley and tensioner yet? Maybe is coming from there
Or if is automatic, it may be going bad?

The oil pressure sensor on the back of the engine has been know by many members to give an indication of trouble by turning on the engine light. Some have even had trouble starting the car with the oil light being lit.

have changed the timing belt and water pump about 35,000 ago. have not checked the other two, and yes it is an automatic.

As far as the engine light, that has not come on at all, just the oil light when i start it up.

thanks

I paid more attention to the whine that was going on with my cruiser. I did notice that the whine is more prominent after I have driven the car for a while versus when I start the car. Dont appear to be losing power and does not appear to be sticking when shifting gears (automatic).

Hi rhunt110
I've got the exact same high pitched whine with my '04 Turbo PT Cruiser (mine has about 170k miles). Did you ever get it diagnosed?
