Angry Power and MPG Loss

Over the past 6 months my PT has been lossing power to the point that i have a to down shift up a normal hill. The gas mileage went from 28 to 22 almost over night. in the mornings i have a rough idle sometimes.

Story behind the loss....

I got the plugs and wires changed at 60k to increase fuel usage, in doing this i lossed power and didnt gain any MPG. i changed the plugs to a double platinum with no luck, however at this point the gas mileage went from 28 to 22 just that fast. so i went back to the old plugs but with no change, it has been that way for months now. over that period i have lost power gradualy to the point that it has issues.

No check engine light or any such markers has arizen from the CPU.

Im looking into a cat for it but its alot of money and i am just over the warranty mark by 1k miles.

Im looking for ideas of the actual problem and how to make it work. i have to get it running before aug i have a cross country trip then and i dont think its going to make it as it sits.

if the issues started with the plugs and wires id go back to that point make sure everything is good and tight maybe even go to a new set of regular plugs what kind of wirtes??? Im hoping you did nto go with the stock PT wires cause even new they suck

any chance your catalic convertyor is cloged???
how about making sure the air intake is clean and not carboned up
check the air filter to make sure there are no clogs
Id even go as far as runnign a couple cans of Sea Foam throught the fuel system

thans about all I have for now

81K in miles on the car

As far as the wires go yes they are stock, nothing fancy.

My cat could be clogged i dont know, is there a way to check without taking it in?

the entire air intake systems has be looked over and new filter on so that is clear.

I'll look into the sea foam idea.

With 21,000 on the same factory replacement wires, i would change them put again with better one. Also did you check the gap on the plugs?
