Default help with the head...

ok so i gots '01 pt non-turbo... it was overheating..changed everything... still overheating... did a head gasket leak detector on it... it failed... blown head gasket...
so ive taken apart the whole top of the motor...(everything but the head)

my problem and question is the timing gears and belt...

1.) how do i loosein the tension on the timing belt?
2.) how do i know where to put it back in time at?

i have the timing gears exposed but i dont see a way to loosin the belt...

3.) do i have to pull the block just to get the head off?
4.) do i have to take the cams off the head to take the head off?

this is my sisters only means of transportation so any fast help would be muchly appreciated...

Default Re: help with the head...

basically you have to do the timing belt job... There are a bunch of threads about it on here.
