Default more overheating woes

i have a 2001, ran fine for about 6 months then started overheating. From what i can remember this seemed to start when i tried the air con. It now goes to about the 3/4 mark on temp guage..to get bck down to half way requires heater to be on full blast (which kicks out hot air). The fan kicks in ok when idling. All the pipes to the radiator are red hot but the radiator itself is stone cold throughout - could this need bleeding? or does radiator need replacing?.. also the coolant bubbles from the reserve tank and seems to be losing coolant, although cant find any leaks or puddles under car. any pointers/suggestions much appreciated! thanks

that is a lot at one time

sounds to me like the fan is out yes i knwo you say it works but when the a/c is on it is suposed to be on all the time the high speed kicks in when it is ne3eded

the bubbles in the tank are usally a bad sign--think blown head gasket

the raidator could use a good flushing if the radiator is cold and the hoses hot that almost sounds liek a water pump

how many miles???
has the timing belt been changed???

74k, no history since i bought so chances are timing belt wont have been changed (incidentally i spoke to chrysler garage who recommended 120k before timing belt change, not sure if this was even correct!) Just started up with air con running and fan seems to kick in ok. the bubbling in resevoir, could this also be because the water is boiling as its not getting distributed around cooling system? i can try flushing (will try and find instructions on forum somewhere) but deffo all the pipes running to rad are red hot and rad is cold throughout to touch. Im no mechanic but would like to try some cheap and easy diagnostics before i let an expensive mechanic loose on this
