Default Upper/lower intake manifold gasket leak?

I noticed today as I was spot cleaning "Zippy," my '03 GT that there are obvious signs of a leak between my upper and lower intake manifold. I checked the bolts and they were torqued properly.

Anyone else have this? Check the pic below - see the carbon deposits on the runners on the upper intake?

There is a gasket there, make sure it is kosher.

Same here, a lot of folks here that show images of their intake manifold have the same indications.

I guess I was wondering if anyone else had this and also if it was potentially a problem. I had quite a few leaks at the valve cover gasket on my '91 Talon TSi AWD and although it wasn't a performance problem, it did dirty up my engine compartment and I didn't really want the same on Zippy!

I have not taken apart my intake, so it's the original gasket as it rolled off the Toluca assembly line (thus I assume the gasket is kosher)...

Same stuff on mine - it will stop looking like the car that rolled off the line right after it rolls off the line.

Most of the GT's I've seen have this. I used Simple Green to take most of it off. Then I said heck with it and had it painted [?]

im4gzs-I guess we are to assume "Zippy" is Jewish
because he must be kosher? When is his (excuse the
spelling) barmitzmah? When does he become a man?
Didn't mean to offend-all in fun

Well, Zippy is a girl (no bat-mitzvah yet; she's only 1.25 years old) and Zippy is short for Zipporah, who of course, was Moses wife...

Naming my car "Zippy" goes along with naming my pets with Biblical "Z" names; I have two cats: one is Zach (short for Zachariah) and the other Zadie, which is a diminutive form of "Sarah," who of course, is Abraham's wife.

BTW, I am not Jewish, but I am a disciple of a Jewish carpenter named Y'shua (Jesus). [|)]

Meanwhile...back to that manifold gasket leak, which many people seem to have, but it seems that it's not a problem...

All that goes through the intake is air. Air will not leak out and cause what you are seeing. If there was a leak, it would run terrible and set a few engine codes.

There is no fuel going through the intake, only air.
