Howdy,
I just dropped in the K&N replacement air filter. I think I'm feeling a bit more horsepower, more giddy-up, and some added engine noise, but I'm just not sure: I tend to have a lead foot sometimes. Does anyone know if there really is a HP gain, anyone dynoed the drop-in filter? |

I was told by an SRT tech friend of mine that the K&N is not good for the turbo models. I don't know which one you have, but the problem lies in letting too much air into the intake, and while K&N claims they filter better than a standard, they don't take into account for the vacume(??) pull a turbo creates. This is not scientific, but he is Chrysler certified to work on everything from SRT4 to Vipers. He also told me that K&N WILL NOT replace your turbo if you jam a rock (or any other SMALL piece of matter that may cause damage) in it! So, is the so called added HP worth it or is it the placebo effect? Hope it helps.
J

And exactly how would you jam a rock in the turbo?

Thanks for the info guys, but I'm a non-turbo owner. Just the regular old 2.4 liter naturally aspirated kind.

macster: LOL! and ditto.
Do a search in these forums, a lot of conversation on air intakes. Someone did dyno it, 2HP gain I think. Remove the white silencer, too. |
