Default vibration and knock

I have a 2001 PT with 31000 miles on it have noticed a small but slight knock when I turn left. The knock only can be heard once after turning each time and it is not loud but I can hear it. I have also noticed that it vibrates a little more than before at speeds above 65 mph and will pull to the left if I let go of the steering column too. Any thoughts would be appreciated. A friend of mine who has worked on PT's before took a look at it and said he noticed play in the tie rod end going into the steering column on the left side. any further input would be great. He told me I should be able to replace just the inner tie rod ends but one shop said the whole rack and pinion assembly has to be replaced but some of the local auto parts shops do only sell the inner and said the shop was incorrect???who's right...Help. Thanks

The inner tie rods are replaceable. I highly recommend getting Moog parts and doing both inner and outer on both sides at the same time. It's a fairly easy job with the correct inner tie rod tool.

Yesterday, my boyfriend purchased his first PT Cruiser (2009). We noticed a knock when we made turns, but I think it might have been when backing out or forward out of a driveway.

Any idea what this might be?

Seems more and more likely that its the left tie rod, in just a few days I've noticed the vibration more as i accelerate and it is pulling to the left more. My buddy's brother owns a collision repair shop and is gonna have his guys replace the inner and outer on both sides and is just gonna charge me 60 bucks labor to give to his guys, since i bought the parts. I'll let you guys knows how it goes after they get repaired this monday.

Changed control bars and made no difference. my buddy's brother could not find anything else. the control arm bearing were bad and did need replacing but the annoying knock on turns remains. I was told it's not the struts, not the tie rod ends or a bad cv joint???? any future responses are appreciated.

Sounds like the driver's side axle. Just fixed our 2007. Vibrated under load from 55 to 75 and would get really violent around 65 up a hill or under load with tires aired up to 40 psi.
Rock Auto Cardone Axles were about $50 each new. Chinese though. Plan to get the OEM's rebuilt for future usage.
