Default Thunk/Knock

I am new to the Forum, so please forgive the double posting.

Yesterday, my boyfriend bought a 2009 Cruiser from a reputable dealer in NJ. We immediately notice a "thunk" or a "knock" when we turned corners. Now, I think it might be related, also, to lowering slowly onto the street from a driveway, either forward or backward moving.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

We still have some time left on the original warranty and the dealer also gave a 60 day.

Thanks so much.

Check the flap inside the fender where the gas filler tube runs down. These clunk if not tied off.

Thank you. Of course, I'll have to ask a mechanic because I have no idea what that means.

Have the dealer put it on the lift and check the suspension and exhaust and look for something that cold cause the knock/thump. If it's still under the warranty and dealer 60 day, get as much done as you can.

We've had a "thunk" in our 2003 Limited that seems to come from inside the driver's side door--or the door just behind the driver's. It happens when we turn corners, only. I've asked about it on this forum and no one knows what it might be.

If the car is under warranty, let them deal with it.

By the way, I've had no problems as a result of this thunk. The doors operate properly; the windows; locks, etc.

Used to be an old wives tale about workers on the assembly line, that when they had a bad day, they would put a used Coke can or some other metal part inside the drivers door or the hollow space in the fender. It would make a "clunk" whenever the car made a sudden turn and drive the new owner of the vehicle mad until someone could trace the noise down and tear the door/fender apart.

But that's an old tail ...they wouldn't do that anymore.
