Default Engine will not start

I just finished a timing belt and valve job on a 2007 2.4 L. Got everything back together. The car will not turn over, the ignition seems to be disabled. the security light is on when I turn the key and remains on as long as the key is in the start position. the battery was disconnected for about 3 weeks. Is there some security mode I don't know about? Any Ideas?

No security mode. Are you sure the battery is charged enough to turn over the engine?

That was my first thought but I had the battery load tested and it checked out OK. The reason I thought security is the security light stays on and blinks rapidly

Yes, it shouldn't blink like that but the owners manual doesn't saying anything about it. Only says it will blink rapidly when the alarm system is arming like when you hit the lock button on the fob. Maybe somethings wrong with you key fob?

Have you used the correct key? Try the spare and see if the chip in the key may start the engine. If you have the security system it, for some reason may not recognize the first key you tried. Also the cam sensor on the side of the valve cover( left side) may be the cluprit. As it will allow the car to start if there is no signal relayed to the computer to fire it up.

Do you realize that the post you're replying to is almost a year old?
