Sorry to bust your bubble Fritz before you go back into gloat mode again, but my GT with autostick is a demon on wheels. I've blown away a few imports and definately taught a few civic's a lesson, and I've only had it for a little over a month. All I have to do is floor it, and in the blink of an eye I'm doing over 60mph. Another blink, and I'm doing over 100mph. And I don't have to be concerned about the slow shifting from 1st to 2nd or from any gear to any other gear when I use the autostick. Plus I don't have to worry about any extra foot work to disengage/engage the clutch. Like Blackcruiser stated, no clutch to burn out, and a 7 year warranty on the autostick. So I punch it whenever I can and stupify many a doubter. And I haven't installed the BOV conversion kit or Stage 1 yet!

no clutch to burn out,
Not true.
There are 16 clutches in 4 clutch packs inside the auto transmission.
Any of them can (and will) burn out. Every gear has a set of small clutches to apply each time it shifts. These are what 'slips' when an auto trans fails.

You are still suffering from timing retard and injector disable everytime your autostick shifts. It's all part of the TCM programming.

The 0-60 'blink of an eye' is funny. The GT Auto trans runs around 15 second 1/4 mile. You should try driving a 9-second race car. I've been running IHRA drag racing for many years. My 15-second PT is a joke at the tracks.

I have driven a 9 second car. I've been working on cars for 20 years now, and over the years worked on 2 cars that where in "hot rod" mags, so I know what speed is. I meant that for a stock automobile, my GT is very fast; faster than my old 2001 PT ever was. Faster than any non-turbo PT with a stick. And on the subject of transmission clutches, I know that auto trannies also have clutches, but I know that they are covered by my warranty and they don't require any extra footwork.

autostick clutches: check the fine print on your warrantee... especially the 'normal wear items' and 'racing use' details
and that warrantee is over in how many miles?

It better be faster than a NA PT with a stick. But is it faster than a GT PT with a stick?

Yes, bracket racers prefer automatics because they are Consistent.
And city cab drivers prefer automatics because it's easier.
And Michel Shumacher drives (sort of ) an automatic because Ferrari F1 automatics are very efficient (and a tad expensive).

Maybe I am some kind of retro throwback, because I prefer manual transmissions as it keeps me better connected to the machine. And is More Fun. (IMHO)

I apologize for launching a holy war.

Hey fritz, I can totally understand your enjoyment of the stick. I have driven many sticks, and the truth is, I do like manual trannies. But there are times that a stick can be a pain. I've always hated driving a stick in busy NYC traffic. On the track and on the highway, they're great and their performance is usually superior. But in my hustle and bustle life in the big city, the stick is just too much of a pain. Don't take my comments to offence, I don't mean to insult anyone, I think both trannies on the PT perform, and hey, we were all smart enough to get PT's! Oh and by the way, I still prefer a stick shift ferrari to an auto. Driven both, and the stick is a blast. I hope to one day drive a Lamborghini with the computer controlled clutch; must be awesome!

Peace to all my PT driving compadres!
Mike

Will this mod work on a '04 non-turbo automatic cruiser?

If I remember correctly, it is ONLY for 2001 & 2's, according to ptdoityourself. Maybe someone else can tell you for sure. Read this area from page 1 to 5.

Any improvements in fuel with this mod?

Also, any confirmation on this working on other PT's aside from '01/'02 models? I want to see if it can be done on an '04 GT.
