Default Wrong coolant?

Went in for a flush and new thermostat and they did not use the red coolant. Dose it matter? Is the red synthetic?

If the system is completely flushed and different coolant is used it probably isn't that bad. I would still drain and flush with water and put the correct stuff in, Zerex G-05 or MOPAR coolant.

The real problem is when different coolants are mixed, they don't play well together.

We pay a lot of money to keep our cars running well. When it comes to the fluids recommended by the manufacturer, you pay a few dollars now so you don't have to worry about spending much more later. I just purchased Mopar brand coolant for $20. The universal stuff is just not worth the risks.

It's also a Chrysler approved coolant, the only one.

But there's a few brands that are licensed to carry the ATF+4 brand that Chrysler recommends.

Licensed ATF+4 Brand Names
