Default MY NA airbox mod

I tried doing my airbox mod using the sticky in the how to section today but things would not line up with only one 3" elbow.Since I am 25 miles from the nearest Lowes or Home depot I decided to go another direction.I got a 3" intake adapter and as luck would have it,the adapter fit perfectly inside of the male end of the pvc elbow. Here are a few pictures of how it worked out.

I started by cutting the two fins off from both sides of the original tube so the adapter would fit flush against the box.

Then I cut the original tube off ,cut a bigger hole and mounted the adapter using silicone between the adapter and the box.

Then I attached the 3" elbow and remounted the box so I could mark the elbow for trimming. After the elbow was trimmed I painted it and reinstalled.

It cost me a total of $11.12 and took about 1.5 hours. The car is much more responsive to the pedal now that I have the K&N dropin and the airbox mod.
Hopefully I will get a little better gas mileage too.

I got the intake adapter from Auto Zone and the elbow from Lowes. The elbow is just a 3" 90 male to female with the female end cut off.I also put some foam around the opening to help keep the heat from the engine out.
If you dont want to use the pvc elbow Auto Zone also sells chrome elbows that are made for the intake adapter.I just didnt want to use chrome on mine.
