You have a lot of extra junk on key chain?
How much did it cost for a new switch?
Did you have to get new keys?

Hey all, I just bought and installed a new ignition switch,Borg Warner p/n CS861, $35.99 at O'Reilly's......let you know if it solves the problem with the instrument cluster gauges going haywire.

I replaced mine too for the problems with the gauges going to zero, the warning lights coming on and sometimes stalling.

Been two months with no more issues. (btw, it was doing the above frequently and even minutes before getting the switch replaced.)

How did you remove the ignition switch? I tore everything apart, but it seems that there is no tab to remove the lock cylinder. Perhaps 2006 and up are different?

Well, I got it done, but it wasn't pretty. Although my FSM says it covers 2001-2008, the 2006 model year is obviously different. I couldn't figure out how to remove the lock cylinder.

At any rate, I loosened the left bolt that attaches the tilt steering lever to the rest of the tilt assembly. This gave me enough room to remove the ignition switch and install the new one.

The only problem I ran into was breaking the little plastic pin that goes into the switch from the lock cylinder. I had enough room to work, but I became a little rough and it broke. The pin is for the warning ding when the key is left in the ignition or the lights are left on. It also disables the door locks from locking when the key is still in the ignition. I put the broken piece of the plastic pin into the switch itself and then re-installed. So far it seems to be working and doesn't appear to be much of a problem.

It it becomes a problem down the road, I'll have to figure out how to remove the assembly and replace.

So it sounds like a failed ignition switch on the 2006 PT for the funky dash going crazy problems.

Also Mopar Part # is 4685719AD, whopping 14$, much cheaper than the parts stores ,advance want 46$ for CS861 by BWD whoever they are

Oh this part is used in 2006-2008(maybe newer years too)PT and in 2006+ pacifica, avenger, sebring from chrysler parts direct site.
