Default Recharging AC on 2008 PT

The Haynes manual shows two service ports on the AC lines near the shock tower, but my 2008 only has one. There is another service port near the compressor. Which one do I hook up my AC recharge kit to?

Yea the Haynes does show two but Chrysler changed them in later years. I don't know if it's the same on a Turbo but here's what we just went through ...

A/C Turbo - how can I get to the low side port?

I have a 2006 non turbo and this thread got me to thinking ( I always get into trouble when I do that ).
My A/C is not super cold as many cars I have had so I checked temp at vents and I am getting 62 degrees which as it was about 94 out that puts it in the "normal" range of 30 to 50 degrees cooler than ambient. I decided to check the low side and I too scratched my head when I only saw one port. Then with a shrug I thought these things are designed to have different valves so the recharge kit will only fit the proper valve. Sure enough the only one visible is the one the kit fits. Just using the gauge and hose with no can attached to get the reading shows a hair below red line. Unless something is weird somewhere, that is as good as it is going to get for now.

That's what the person on the link I put into my answer found out. The only port visible was the port that was used to charge up the system.

...and it's funny we are only finding out about this now. Apparently Chrysler changed it in 06 and all the new generation PT's, including the Turbo models have only one access port, and that's the one to use for a recharge.

So the lower one must be a relief valve only then, I will have to take the upper rad bracket out and unscrew the plastic cap off the lower port to see what it is.

These are the products I'm looking at:

RED TEK - DyeCharge

RED TEK - LeakStop

RED TEK - 12a Refrigerant

The "low side" port is used for charging and that is the one up top. The "high side" port is on the high pressure line coming off the compressor.

Earlier model PTs had and extra "high side" port next to the "low side" port up top. Chrysler must have eventually removed the "high side" port up top since it was not really on the "high side" being downstream from the orifice tube built into the liquid line. Why they ever put the port there in the first place is a mystery. Maybe they were going to use an expansion valve at the evaporator input.
