My PT used a Napa belt, but use a quality pump.

Gate's would be my choice for the tensioner/belt/etc.

Yea, it's only electrical parts they we recommend parts from the dealer. As Kawizx9r said, use a decent name brand pump/tensioner. Too much work involved to do it again because you skimped on a cheap part. Not saying you would, but if your thinking about it.

Remember to change the waterpump, if the engine mount is not in perfect condition, change it too.

When I did my timing belt about 1 year ago, I spent a lot of time determining which kit to get. The information I compiled about Gates kits is below. The tensioner design changed in 2003. However, 2001-2002 can use the new design with modifications to the rear timing cover. Dayco sells a conversion kit with new covers (PN: 84143) for 2001-2002 PTs.

Component Kits
TCK265 - timing belt, idler pulley, new design tensioner pulley
TCK265P - same as TCK265 with oil seals
TCK265A - belt, idler pulley, new design tensioner assembly
TCK265ARB - racing blue timing belt, idler pulley, new design tensioner assembly
TCK265B - timing belt, idler pulley, old design tensioner pulley
TCKWP265 - timing belt, idler pulley, new design tensioner pulley, water pump
TCKWP265A - timing belt, idler pulley, new design tensioner assembly, water pump
TCKWP265B - timing belt, idler pulley, old design tensioner pulley, water pump
TCKWP265C - timing belt, idler pulley, new design tensioner assembly, turbo water pump

Individual Parts
T265 - timing belt
T265RB - racing blue timing belt
T42121 - idler pulley
T43131 - new design tensioner assembly (included bracket)
T43005 - old design tensioner pulley
T43008 - new design tensioner pulley
41006 - water pump
43500 - turbo water pump
KS13709 - camshaft seal
KS12711 - crankshaft seal

So I can use TCKWP265 for my 2001 as long as I get the correct covers?

When changing from the old design to the new design tensioner you need a kit that contains the new assembly (with bracket). The TCKWP265A should work with the correct covers. You can use the existing covers by just doing some slight modifications to the rear piece. Just mount the new tensioner and line up the cover to see what needs to be removed. A dremel works well for cutting the plastic.

Not only is the tensioner pulley different between the old and new design, the bracket is different. When "upgrading" to the new design, you need a new bracket. I couldn't find a picture of the old bracket, but here are some pics of the old design tensioner pulley and new design tensioner assembly.
