Default Where did you come from loose fan wire?

Parked my 03 PT in the driveway 3 days ago and went to go to work later on and all I gort was a click, just one lonely click from the starter. Checked the battery at autozone; dead and replaced it. Same thing, so moved on to the starter. Pulled it, checked it, replaced it....Still got a one click answer. When I pulled the starter found a long red and yellow striped wire hanging from the engine to the ground. Figured it was a power wire, touched it to the battery and the rad fan came to life......So here I am with a car that won't start and a wire that needs a home. Any ideas out there? Couldn't find anything on search....

jjj,
If you look at the diagram below of the Engine Cooling Fan system, the red and yellow wire goes from the LOW SPEED fan relay (in the PDC) to the Low Speed radiator fan relay Control in the PCM.

Which end you have, I don't know.

As far as not starting, check all the connections of the things you replaced for any corrosion that would stop the 12 volts getting to the parts you've checked. A "click" is usually the sign of the battery not having enough power to turn over the engine. Since it's all new, maybe that power isn't getting through. If you have a meter tester, check that voltage on all ends of the cables.

Is the new battery fully charged?

I've seen them stored empty and charged when you purchase it.
