Default Error Code P1684

My wife's PT shows an error code of "P1684" which translates to "Driver 5 Line 4". Any explanations as to what that means? Thanks

That is the code for the battery being disconnected in the last 50 starts, usually nothing to worry about.

From PT Do-It-Yourself.net:

P1684 does not indicate a problem; it's only a status, which indicates that the PCM memory has been cleared within the last 50 ignition cycles.

Your worrying to much. There could have been an instant loss of power or something to set the code. If you want to clear it, take off the negative battery cable for 5 minutes to reset the computer and clear all the stored codes.

I want to say thank you! I have a 2001 White PT Cruiser. My engine light came on today as soon as I entered the highway on the way to work. I was very worried all day about the expense that I was going to encounter. I checked the gas cap (it was loose) and I filled the tank but the light didn't go off. I went to Auto Zone, the employee ran a diagnostics test and was ready to sell me an EGR Valve/gasket. I was ready to buy that and a transducer and try to figure out how to install it. But thanks to you I learned how to get the error codes. Which were P1684 and P0455. Then I was able to learn that I don't have a real problem after all. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me, a person that didn't marry a Mr. Fix it and doesn't have a mechanic in the family. You saved me a lot of stress and unnecessary repairs. I will be back to help my 18 year old learn how to do some maintenance repairs.

Thanks!

Doesn't work. Tried to teach my son the art of car maintenance even to change his own oil. Smart kid and started working at a job that paid over $100,000. He just pays someone to do everything. Bit him a couple days ago. He had problems with his Nissan. Called me and I said it's probably electrical and since he had no tools took it to the dealer. I just called. He paid $600 to have his alternator replaced. They told him it's a big job because he has a V6. Might be, can't tell, I'm in Fla he's in Virginia.

I guess that's not too bad. We have people here that pay that much for a new fan from the dealer.

Anyway, glad you learned something and saved some money and a headache. We're here 24/7 if you need us.
