Default Instrument Cluster Changeout

I have a 2002 PT Cruiser. I want to change out the instrument cluster. There are plenty of used ones on EBAY. My question is, can you interchange instrument clusters from one 2002 to another 2002? Or do I need to pull mine first to look for any special serial numbers, model numbers, etc...

naw they should be a direct plug and play. While you have it out, if your thinking about adding a lil color to your interior, you might want to look into different color bulbs.

yes sir. here's a visual of what the back looks like

also, make sure you don't lay your cluster down flat. I've heard that theres some kinda oil in there that can leak and mess it up
SickPigeon likes this.

Don't think you can just swap a cluster. I think the odometer is stored in it, not in the pcm. It will work but the mileage won't be correct.

I was researching this because I was contemplating doing some custom dash work and I didn't want to mess up my original cluster if the mods didn't work out.

and if the dealer or someone else with the DRBIII scan tool connects to the OBDII the computer will show an error code for the odometer reading not matching the PCM...
