Default Lights

Hi,
I am new to this forum but have a 2005 Dream Edition Turbo PT Cruiser Convertible, I bought in 2007 with 700 miles on it.
Never had any problems until recently when over the past year, I have been to the dealer at least 5 times to have the bulbs, assembly and housing replaced to the tail lights/brake lights. Dealer charged me $420 as they said the circuit board had shorted out, due to moisture and condensation in the tail/brake light assembly.
Is this a design flaw, as it happens most often after I have a car wash! I park next to the sprinklers for but they hit the side of the car, not the back. What can I do to prevent/help this. I am tired of the excuses from the dealer, is this a design flaw?

Over at PTCrew they have a mod for painting the inside of the headlights, and in that thread they discuss how to "bake" apart your lights. Same goes for tails. In the oven at I believe 250 degrees. You would need to visit PTcrew.com to make sure of that. One of my original tails had a leak and caused all kind of havoc, so I baked it apart, got some sealer and resealed the entire lens assembly and never had another issue. I've now got my fourth set of tail lights on, Altezza Bermuda Blacks, and even they have leaking problems. I think darned near every manufacturer has issues sealing their tail lights. Was sitting behind a Lexus at a stop light three days ago, chuckling because their left rear tail light was half full of water....

Here's what he Altezza's look like:
