Default Transmission issues

I have a few questions .
My girlfirend has a 99 cavalier automatic . I hate chevy as much as the last guy but hey ... its better than ford ( opinion) . Anyways , its an automatic and reverse wont catch . Drops in into R and it just rev's . Suggestions for checking things ?

Now , the 4lte transmission . How much horsepower is it good for ?
Would a upgraded transcooler help it any??

For your Cavalier question, there's a App .....err Forum for that:

ClubCav.com: Chevy Cavalier Forums, Cavalier Forum - Powered by vBulletin

The auto tranny is good for about 300hp if you don't push it. Don't know if an upgraded transcooler would help but if you plan on going any further than that, the block would need to be beefed up anyway.

For my engine i got a a few things to build the motor whenever im ready .
Just havent done it because of the atx tranny . I was told by another member HEAT is one of the main issues with it . Just making run a lil cooler will help ? I live in az and its quite hill'y here .

Im wanting to :
3in exhaust turbo back , dual side pipes .
2.5 hardpipe kit
Upgrade charge pipe
Intercooler
throttle body
maybe slap these stage 2 cams into it .
plugs, wires , coil upgrade
And put a diablo trinity tuner into it .

Now pushing factory boost , i want to know if the tranny will hold up .

You are better off with a 5 speed if you want to do those mods, or maybe you can think about saving a little money for a tranny upgrade once you blow it. Check out ptcrew for a list of stuff you can do to make it a little better.
One think for sure, DO NOT boost in OD!!!

yeah im on pt crew . Honestly im not a tranny guy .
I love to just swap to a five speed but i love the atx .... not as much as i hate it but still . I have a bad knee due to breaking my leg a few different times . So a clutch would suck .

All mods ive seen on megasquirt and all these other things dont make sense to me ?

Btw checked out ipt already and their trannys are just as bad.
