Very common problem for the actual fan motor to fail.
I have already replaced my fan twice.
I bought the last one from napa since they give a lifetime guarantee.

Oh and my cruiser only has 54,000 miles

Replacement is not that difficult either.

Very unusual for both speeds of the fan to fail at the same time. Find the electrical connection to the fan motor. Run a ground and a hot wire to the pins in the part of the connection that's going to the motor. Ground the center pin and touch the hot wire to either side pin. At least one of the two speeds of the fan should come on. If not, your one of the unlucky ones that both speeds failed at the same time.

Crewzin, both my fan speeds failed at the same time--or else the low speed had been kaput for a long time and I didn't know it--then the high speed went kaput, and I only noticed when my motor sputtered with the A/C turned on.

Either way, my temp gauge never went past the normal range.

I'm just saying, the brushes that burn out inside the fan, if you look at the pictures that were made of fixing the motor, it happens that one brush burns out out of the 6 which causes one speed to go before the other. Not saying two brushes can't burn out at the same time, just usually doesn't happen that way.

Unhappy Re: 07 radiator fan will not come on

thanks for the info! i got the fan going, but my pt is still overheating. i have made sure there are no leaks and we have the right amount and type of coolant, replaced the thermostat, swapped out the a/c condenser because it was completely clogged with dirt, replaced the radiator cap, and checked all my fuses. i really really dont want it to be the water pump, but not sure what else it could be. any ideas?

Lots of overheating on this forum comes from a partially clogged radiator not letting the coolant flow freely around the engine.

would you do a coolant flush? how about the coolant temp sensor?

You said the fan is going now. If the Temp Sensor was bad, the fan wouldn't work.

As far as the radiator. It's easy enough to take out, I'd take it to a shop and have them power flush it.

it actually seems to be intermittent. i use it to deliver mail and the fan went on in the beginning of the route when i had to stop and it idled for a few minutes, and the temp stayed normal. after i started delivering again (there is a lot of stop and go) it started to get hot. i got to a straight away and the temp went down as i accelerated and went faster. but then i had to stop and go again, and the second time i had to stop and let it idle for a few minutes the temp shot up and the coolant temp light actually came on, but the fan didn't. when i got to the hwy and again accelerated the temp went down.
