Default Turbo swap in 2001 Cruiser

Hey all,
I have a 2001 Cruiser, 2.4l NA, 5spd manual trans, with about 150XXX on her.
I have a chance to pick up a brand new, factory crate engine for a 2005 turbo Cruiser for less than $2k. The downside is that it doesn't come with the turbo.
I know I will need to swap ECUs, but I poked around and found my trans will bolt up.
The catch is, I have to do it in December, and I have less than a month to do the swap, as I will need to drive it from Oregon to Texas at the end of the year.

What are your thoughts? Worth the time/effort/money?
Thanks!

It would be worth it. if you can do it. If I was you I would ask the the guys over at ptcrew.com they're a bunch of gear heads and would have more information. A lot of them post over here also so they might see your question here but if your in a rush go over to that forum. Good luck!!

Sweet deal. I'm not in a terrible hurry (yet).
Any ideas on where to snag a turbo/how much I'm looking at paying for one?

Performance Techniques in San Bernardino Ca . A real turbo builder, rebuild shop That is all they do. He is the best. I have personally observed his work. He has been around for about 30 yrs! Ask for Jamie Nimmo (909) 824-1020.

I shot them an email. I'm currently stationed overseas, and my baby Cruiser is with my parents. I'll have to save all the telephone calls for when I get back Stateside.

***Warning! NOT A TURBO GUY***

I know you can get SRT-4 Rods & Piston assembleys from Chrysler,
AND you can install megasquirt (MS) easily on the old block (non NGC)

This is done tons of times on Neons- See their Swap forum

www.neons.org - Engine Swap

I have MS, lots of experience there

I'd rather have the new, much stronger turbo engine with all of the benefits than a tired 150k na engine trying to build on that.

You won't be able to do it in a month. Swapping engine, install ECU, exhaust, transmission, intake piping, intercooler, and never mind hunting down all the parts.

Normally I would be worried about getting it done in a month, but as it sits, I can hunt for all the parts now/have my dad track them down, and the month I have to do it in, I'll be on vacation, so no work, no school, no nothing.
Doable under those parameters, maybe?

Sorry, just the one engine.
