Default Is there a ghost in my car?

The locks on my 2001 PT lock and unlock when they want to!!! Also interior light went on in the middle of the night. My mechanic can't find out why. This is draining the battery ( new last fall) and then I can't start the car, just get a clicking noise.

This has happened 4 times this month - they tried checking wires, alternator, and have replaced solenoid. They rechecked battery and cables, terminal etc.

I don't feel safe - I've never had this problem before.

Drove and left the car unlocked while at a friends - came out the car had locked itself!

remote key problem , multifunction switch???? Help - just want my old reliable car back. THanks! Can I disarm the remote key entry and just use manual key?

Id say that eventhouight it is time for ghost and gobblins that it is more correctly a wiring issue make sure the battery is at full charge( put it on a charger) and then see I ahve heard that a low battery will cause the doors to lock and un lock

I think you can un hook the remote keyless it is located in the frount under the dash board

you could get one of thoes small chargers that run like .5 amps into your battery just to keep it at 100%

Have your battery checked - call ahead - many places do it for free.
As noted, a low battery can cause "gremlins".
If battery is okay, then the Remote Keyless Entry module (RKEM) is probably going bad. It's in central dash above the radio.

Thank you - but battery has been checked and rechecked --- it was new in fall 2010 and had been full recharged each time whatever it is that keeps draining battery.

Is there a way to disable keyless remote - i don't need it.

There's a panel by driver's knee - pull off fuse cover - the lid says what fuses are for - there's also on under the hood bythe air cleaner - look for RKEM ...

QSD is correct. it's fuse number #3 in the interior fuse box labeled RKE DR LKS.

RKE = Remote Keyless Entry

DR LKS = Door Locks

If that does not work you will need the following..
a priest
holy water, bottled not imported
a chicken - kfc extra crispy works good, Walmart chicken your on your own
air freshener - sage

before you start watch "THE CAR" 1977, this is how bad things can get. I can say no one in my family will make that same mistake more than 3 times...

Possible the lock / unlock switch on the drivers door contacts worn. Just a thought... I remember seeing this same problem on another Chrysler product where the solenoid would machine gun the lock knob.
