Default No idle and codes P2074 and P0508

New member here and wanted to share a problem we had with our 05 turbo last week. The car has been and was running fine when I turned it off to get gas but when I restarted it the motor revved to about 2500 rpm and then stalled with the check engine light on. It would not idle but I found that I could keep it running with my foot on the throttle and managed to get it the short distance to home that way. Retrieved and cleared the mentioned codes and restarted but still no idle and both codes returned. I replaced the map sensor and only code 0508 came back but the car still wouldn't idle. I next replaced the idle air control valve but that made no difference and still had code 0508. At that point I gave up and had it towed to the dealer where they found that the PCM was bad but fortunately it was still covered under the 8 year/80,000 mile warranty. It took about a week for them to get the part because it was back ordered but we are back in business now and the car is running great again.

Strange that one of the PCM codes didn't show up. Glad it didn't cost you anything.

Me too. A friend of mine has an 04 turbo and his PCM failed earlier this year but he was beyond the 80,000 mile warranty and it cost him $1100. to get it replaced.
