If you do it yourself, let the dino oil drain really well and put a new filter on. Other than that your OK. You probably know that Synthetic will find any leaks you might have had with dino and make them more pronounced and with 121K on the odometer I'd give everything a once over tightening down.

Im pro synthetic. I put that in my pt that day I bought it. When the timing belt was changed, the inside of the engine STILL looked brand new, and the timing belt was done at 70k miles. I have yet to find any leakes in my car yet

I bought my PT a little over a month ago, and with it being turbo'd I guess it needs full synthetic (the original owner never sued it) and before I make a 200 mile trip this week I plan on getting an oil change and going full synthetic... I take it to Top Gun to get oil changes and I usually run up about 45 bucks and I know synthetic is a tad bit pricier but does anyone have any idea how much more? I'm going to pay it either way, but I was just wondering.

I run nothing but synthetics.

Of course what is a "synthetic" is now debatable.

The Amsoil signature series is full PAO GRP 4. I am told Redline is mostly Ester base GRP5.

All the rest(off the shelf stuff) seem to be highly refine Grp 3 Dino labelled Full Synthetic.

I used to only use the Amsoil motor oil, but now have used the others and they seem to be OK. On the other hand all the trans fluids, gear oils etc I mostly use the Amsoil.

Ya I don't care what you call Mobile One, real synthetic or not, but I have run it in my last four cars/trucks. Two of those are Hemis, owned one since 2005 and run it hard at times, 1 GM V6 4.3l vortec that had 149,000 on it and one 5.3l that my son still drives with 190,000. Zero oil related casualties. The PT I bought used for my daughter so I can't make any claims and I have no idea what they ran it it but it has mobile 1 in it now. I think its 23.50 for the 5 quart jug and I usually buy them three at a time because the Hemi's both take 7 full quarts an oil change. Guess I'lll have to buy them 4 at a time now

Edit: I have Amsoil in both trannies for the Dodge and 300c. Royal Purple in the differentials. 15 quarts of Amsoil for the Dodge tranny was pretty spendy.

I just run Castrol 5w30w regular oil. That's what I used in my old Subaru. It had 237,000 miles on it when I sold it to a co-worker, eight years ago. He gave it to his niece--and she's still driving it.

Sorry.

Tim
