Your best bet is to try UK Cruisers Club web site dedicated to the Chrysler PT Cruiser
They will dun you to pay to join up, but you can ignore that...

I think a UK site that does not demand 20 to "join" is needed... especially as they will delete requests for help by *non-members*. That's not the way I think people should behave - I'd prefer to see info exchanged freely myself, same as on this site...

I've heard the Brit members talk about a wrecker yard that's supposed to be pretty good.

You can get most things on rock auto. Although they are in the US, they are vat registered for UK trade, so you pay no import/customs charges.
Their product catalogue is best suited to the 2.4L car, but the 2.0L and diesel engines share most components with the 2.4L apart from the engine. The 2.0L had a Dodge Neon engine in it, so hunt the Neon parts catalogue for engine related stuff.

If it helps, the diesel is the same as the Mercedes-Benz C-class and E-class models have... so maybe look for c220 cdi parts?

*edit - ah, I see you have a 2.0 auto, sorry.

Why does a UK site charge twenty pounds (sorry, no pound key here in the U.S.)?

Who gets the money? What do they do with it?

It sounds very strange--unless the site is owned by Chrysler mechanics who are moonlighting. Then, I could see a charge for professional help. But not from lay owners. No way.

My point exactly - they are a "club" so charge a membership fee... in effect it's 20 to find out that nobody knows the answer to your issue so you come here (to a much friendlier place) and get much much more info all for free.

Maybe I should start a proper UK forum

I can't speak for the charge for joining. Someone over there pays my fee because I've done favors for them while I was over in England and still do, favors like accepting things from buyers on eBay when they won't ship overseas. I turn around and send them over.

Anyway, they do have an excellent mechanic on their forum with username DREDD. Very knowledgeable and never short for an answer to the questions that pop up. I borrowed (with permission) a line from his signature on giving advice.

Never thought about someone deleting questions from non-members but I did notice they don't have people popping onto the site that have never been there, asking questions and leaving in the middle of the night never to be heard from again. Now I know why.

BTW: that "someone" who pays my fee has four, count em 4, 2002 Gold Dream Series 1 Cruisers.

PiperGeorge, if you have the 4 red cruisers, you have company.
uncomn likes this.
