For what I heard, almost everybody said they don't work.

I've heard they make great paper weights.

Not an expert, but getting a bigger 'plenum' helps top end, and seems torque applications use small plenums.
That spacer effectively increases volume, but not substantially.

Check manifold to ensure it's actually larger than the OE TB!

Doesn't do crap. Doesn't do anything at all for fuel injected cars. Works on carburators and old school cars. It is truly a great paper weight for today's cars.

Have you done the Airbox mod?
How to: Air filter box modification
That will do more for you than a spacer.
A lager TB may help - I am not sure - it does on a turbo.

I do think that a throtle body spacer may improve responce due to the fact of creating a large plenum....lets be honest the pt cruiser has practically no plunem....has very long runners though.

from my basic understadning of intake manifolds though. I've noticed that "torque" applications use long intake runners....which out pt cruiser defiently has and so do other vehilce like the ka24de power nissan 240sx vehicles.

while top end cars similar to the k20z3, k20a2 and k24a2 powered civic si, rsx type, and tsx (respectively)powered cars use short runners for better top end.

doing a visual comparison of similar engines deisgned for different applications though I would think that plenum size doesn't make much difference between toruq or high revving applications.

case in point would be the accord k24a3/4 motor having long runners and the k24a2 powered tsx having short runners.....but the plenums look very simlar in size.
the big difference I see with all motors mentioned compared to the pt cruiser is they actually appear to have an intake plenum.

this is just my opinion based on visual interpretation....no actual science went into these conclusions.

OK this is where you get into tuning your engine for what RPM Range you want to see power.
Longer runners = more power at lower RPMS
Short runners = more power at higher RPMS
This is also true with the Intake Piping before the throttle body.
If you can find a biger throttle body that will fit the intake then go for it if it is reasonably priced, More air that comes into the engine the more efficeint fuel will burn and more HP is the side effect.
