Default harmonic balancer (or what ever yall call it)

ok.. bought the new harmonic balancer for the pt (main crank pully) and cant seem to get it installed??? any suggestions or tricks y'all use to install it??
pic is of new (on the left) ond old (on the right)
the new is called a "performance" balancer??? but same weight & size ?? price was right $83 so i got it

I just used a little oil when installing it and push it in with the bolt. btw, what was wrong with the original?

You have 2 options if you don't have the proper tool.

1st.(Better) Get a longer bolt with a big washer (I think the Neon's bolt is perfect) and start to tighten. If my memory doesn't fail it's a 10 mm /1.75 bolt, and you'll need about 1 inch and a half longer bolt

2nd.(Polemic) Place the balancer without the bolt. Put a long 18 mm socket and hit with a rubber hammer until your bolt can be tightened. The socket is used to get an uniform distribution of strengh when you're hitting, once you can tight the bolt, proceed with the tighten.
To be honest, I used a regular hammer with no problems but there is concensus that it's inappropriate. So don't use a metal hammer.

oh yea... i kno all about not using a metal hammer... lol but i tried the rubber hammer trick already with no avail
my old center hole got buggered up on the old one wen i took it off of the engine. its kinda egg shaped if you look closly possibly not a darn thing wrong with re-using it but oh well

go to AutoZone or any parts store and rent the balancer tool, it's free.
