Default Compression

Hi,

First post here eh ., I have an 02 PT 2.4 and # 3 has 5o PSI compression compared to the others 180 or so. Did the oil leak down test and the compression didnt go up,, seems like it may be a valve ugh.

Took of the cover and noticed one of the exusat lifters in #3 looked a little weird. Replace the lifter but still no compression.. Anybody??

Can you live with how it's running??? Oil consumption?

If so, forget the numbers and drive it!
otherwise, a valve or two's pretty cheap, sounds like you have enough acumen to replace a valve.

If it were a ring problem, your compression would have risen when you put oil down the hole.

Indeed. These 2.4 inherent to valve problems?

No. I'd have no idea why they would fail, unless they had a bad vendor for a short period-
Here's an '06:

There's tons of '95 with hundreds of thousands of miles that have original valves- No reason for yours to fail.

Jesus.

IDK.

'01 went to 3-groove valves- This allows valves to rotate.
Perhaps they rotate too much.

I'd have a machinist inspect it- see if seat wore into valve faces excessively.

Good idea on injector - lean would do it - if you ate a hole in piston, you'd have white fog exhaust.
