Question p0304 misfire code

I have a 07 pt cruiser CHECK ENGINE light comes on. Code 0304 changed plugs and wires. reset light. Drove the car. Went about 10 miles, stop at a light, car set idling, CHECK ENGINE light came on. Check code again sure enought 0304 comes up. ANY IDEAS???? Engine runs fine! Just a rough idle

Could be vacuum leak in the upper manifold around cylinder #4 or cracked head gasket. Also could be a faulty injector.

Thanks crewzin, tore the upper manifold apart so I recheck plug wires and then reassembled the manifold. Hopefully that will fix problem. It seem to get rid of the rough idle.

I'm subscribing for any updates. I have a new (to me) 2005 PT GT with the same misfire code, 93K miles. So far it only seems to do it at idle, on-and-off MIL, cold but after 5 minutes of running. I've been told the plugs and wires were changed. I have yet to verify or stick a wrench on it, still in research mode. I have a 3K mile powertrain warranty and want to diagnose any major problems before that runs out. Thanks.

I'd pull a plug and see what condition it is in.

Thumbs up Re: p0304 misfire code

I had the p0304 (and also got a p0300) misfire on cylinder 4 code..went through a lot of time and options to fix it ..I ended up getting a tune up (new wires, plugs and an ignition coil) still getting code, so I ended up getting a new intake gasket under the engine and WAAH LAHH!! NO code, No Light ((Hope this helps))

I did fix my problem this is what I did
change plugs, wires, upper intake gaskets, fuel inject cleaning(Valvoline instant oil change),and the light still came on. So I was still #issed off. Then I when for little ride We have nice piece of road here flat and no turnoffs for about a mile @ half .I ran the car up to 80. Took it home reset the code. It hasnt come for two monthes now. My guess is i had a valve not closing right because of carbon build up.
