Smile Missing bolts

I replaced the radiator fan assembly recently, and I left the 2 side bolts out of the housing. The fan housing is up a quarter of an inch,so the bolt isnt long enough.Do you think it be alright with those 2 bolts missing?

I'm not sure what your saying because everything should line up but if the fan housing is secure and you can't move it at all, it should be OK. You sure you put it in the right way?

I put the top and bottom bolts in tight, and when I did this the two side bolts wouldn't go in. there is a gap,and the bolt isn't long enough to reach the threads. It feels solid enough with 4 bolts.

That gap your talking about, are you sure there's nothing stopping the fan housing from getting closer to the threaded hole, like some wiring or something that would stop it from getting closer to the hole?

If not, you could always take the bolt to the hardware store and get the same size only longer.

I don't think there is anything between the shroud and the radiator.I think if I had tightened the side bolts first,it might have worked.I don't want to have to drain the antifreeze again, that's why I want to know if that small amount of incoming air leakage will affect the overall performance(overheating).
