Having issues figuring out what is wrong with my 2001 PT Cruiser. Yesterday I was driving down the highway, my car jumps, the check engine light comes on, and it starts slowing. I pull over. I'm not sure if the motor was running when I turned the key over. It would not crank after that, sounds like its out of gas. Codes p1299 (high fuel pressure) and p0340 (cam shaft sensor circuit). I replaced the cam shaft position sensor figuring that was the problem. It was not the problem. And the only code coming up is p0340, even after I replaced it. My car is still not cranking. I checked the wires and they are ok. What could it be? I'm trying to get this fixed asap. I've also had issues with a soleniod circuit in the fuel tank. Please help :/

Did you use a sensor from the dealer?

I've seen a lot of people with the same problem when they don't use Chrysler sensors..

I didn't know it made that big of a difference.

Yep, sure does. The majority of after market parts are copies of the real thing, made of inferior materials and made to look like a genuine Chrysler/MOPAR part but they either don't work at all or fail soon after installation. Time and time again we've had owners come to the forum after putting in an after market part and they had the same problem. Swapping for a genuine Chrysler part, the problem went away.

I'll try that. I hope it works. Would that be the only problem since my car is turning over but no fire to the engine?
