Default Leaky waterpump only 20k...

Cylinder head on....

After buttoning up the valve cover, I began the installation of the timing belt rear cover. I noticed a dried stream of coolant on below where the pump resides. So, I took a close look at the pump. From a glance, I noticed the stream began behind the pulley, from the shaft. It looks like it has been dripping, not pouring out. I never did see any loss of coolant, leaks or residual on the the pan or on the floor.

I wish I knew to buy the OEM pump 2 years ago.....and the dealer parts are closed tomorrow....

The water pump was part of the Gates timing belt kit. The pump itself does look to be a sold piece...but. And, from recently reading post on the subject of aftermarket pumps are prone to failure, that is the truth, no doubt.

I will have pics up shortly.

The Gates one definitely isn't the business. The SRT-4 guys have very good posts about other, aftermarket, ones that have failed.

Going to call my local, family owned, parts store to see if that have a Mopar one. If not, going to call the dealer on Monday to see if they have them.

Dang, was hoping to drive the PT tomorrow....

Here is the Mopar pump image..

I was just looking around the local shops to find this one, from Autozone, Duralast brand, which looks to be electrogalvanizing?

Really, a reman is likely better than a NEW aftermarket pump!

The housing is exactly the same as OE, because it is OE.
I think all they do is put in a new bearing/seal cartridge, the rest of it doesn't wear.

Quality of the cartridge is the only deciding factor, unfortunately the bottom line decides the quality.

Interesting, when did you replace it? They must have cut distribution at one point...

Orielly's and Autozone do carry remanufactured ones. Should I consider really consider those? I'm thinking the new ones, that look exactly like the Mopar ones should be good....especially the ones that look to have the electorgalvinized coating....which are actually new.
