Default New Member With A Strange Problem

Hello fellow Cruiser enthusiasts: My wife and I both have 2003 PT Crusers. Hers is an Inferno Red Touring Edition, mine is an Electric Blue Limited. Both cars have over 100,000 miles. Mine has developed a strange quirk recently. When I drive away and the power locks, lock the doors, they will unlock if I depress the brake pedal or turn on the rear wiper. If I re-lock, the above actions will again result in unlocking. If I don't relock, pressing the brack pedal or using the rear wiper will still result in the sound of the mechanism unlocking. Since this problem has started I also noticed that the dome light will not come on when I turn the ignition off until I take my foot off the brake pedal. Also, the rear wiper makes a much slower sweep, or only sweeps part way, then stops. Thanks for any help. We both love our Cruisers and hope to drive them for as long as possible.

Welcome to the forum. I've never heard of anything like what your describing. I have heard of a weak battery doing strange things. The only thing to suggest is to take the negative battery cable off for about 5 minutes. Depress the brake pedal to get rid of any residual charge then put it all back together. This resets the computer. It might run ruff for a few minutes while the computer relearns your settings.

On another subject, both PT's have had the timing belt and water pump changed, right?

Thanks for the welcome and the reply. I tried removing the battery cable, but didn't know about depressing the brake pedal. I'll try that. My normal mechanic suggested it might be a body control modual, and therefor a dealer fix. I have had the timing belts and water pumps replaced.
