Default Timing Belt Replace- What parts, brand/

I have a 2002 Limited with 101,900 miles & ready to replace timing belt. Some have said to replace water pump at same time, my question what actual parts should I get & what brands, part houses, do you use?

I cant speak on the water pump but after workng for Gates for 17 years I would go with a Gates timing kit and belt. I am sure others can advise you as well.

go to RockAuto Auto Parts and put in all the information about your PT and look under "timing belt'. You'll get lots of choices for parts and kits that have everything you need.

Lots of us have used their parts and have had no problem with prices and shipping.

Thanks for the info. Looked on Rockauto under timing belts & found a Gates Timing Belt Component kit which includes water pump for $109.79 plus shipping. I had noticed in some posts about getting a new design tensioner, the info on the timing kit says it replaces OE parts. This ok?

IMHO- Get the kit that comes with the pump, Idler pulley, belt and tensioner. In addition get the 2 cam seals and front crank seal while your in there. Some say if they are not leaking don't worry about it, I say while you are there do it and know they are good. As you'll find out, it's a BI*CH to do the belt and you have access to those seals while your there. Other wise if they start leaking you'll have to go through the whole process again to do them. They are only about 6-8 bucks a piece.

Just my 2 cents.

Don't forget the drive belts and the idler that goes on that tensioner. Just a little insurance while you have everything apart. You will soon find out that your torque struts are shot too. I replaced the middle motor mount too, but it's not the one that wears out.
