What would the ramifications be if installed?
I am guessing the reduced dampening of the motor mounts would cause more engine vibration to be felt and increases the possibility of breaking a motor mount. Thoughts? |

From what I gather, you get all you mentioned, but less wheel hop on high power starts...that's if you race. If you just drive it as a daily driver, I would re-consider that.

It is a daily driver that makes no distinction between roads and tracks, heh. "The Fast and the Anxious"
I am all for performance and tweaking, but I do not want to make any major reliability sacrifices. A tighter launch would be nice, but not at the greater risk of cracking a motor mount. In fact, I should probably do something to strengthen my motor mounts. Even though I have never even seen a track, I probably launch more often as a daily driver than a racer (just about every traffic light is a "tree"). So, to broaden my question, what should I/can I do to get stronger and/or stiffer motor mounts? |

do they make a solid motor mount??

Here's what they have to say Bob:
Top Motor Mount - Our solid polyurethane-filled mounts reduce wheel hop and missed shifts, and are much more durable than OEM mounts. Bottom Motor Mount - Our solid polyurethane-filled mounts reduce wheel hop, and are more durable than OEM mounts. Tranny Mount - Our solid polyurethane-filled mounts reduce wheel hop, and are more durable than OEM mounts.

if they are anything like the solid mounts you can use in the older muscle cars then can and sometimes do give you some vibration

LOL, IR!
I guess these are plastic-filled cast iron? What are the OEM mounts made of? (I know they do not clean or shine very well, heh. Yes, I want chrome-plated motor mounts.) I see, I just looked at my top motor mount, the inside is rubber. The polyurethane is what stiffens it. I wonder if they just get factory mounts, gut them, fill it, and add that middle piece. ![]() Some vibration is acceptible. hehe, I remember lending my truck to a girl with whom I worked. When she returned the keys, she said, "wow...that thing vibrates...heh..hmmm.." and her eyes and grin told it all. |
