Default Minneapolis PT mechanics?

Hello PT enthusiasts-
I have often perused these boards, but have never asked a question. I have a tough question to answer, but maybe one of you folks will have a thought to help.
I have a black 2001 Touring PT, that I LOVE. The best, most-favorite car that I have ever had. I just feel great when I drive this car. I need a new water pump (and also to change the timing belt, since they will be in there) and thermostat and thermostat housing and the estimate is coming in just under 2,000. Pete, as I call him, has around 127,000 miles. I want to pay the price to have him fixed, but I guess, am I being unwise. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice? Thank you so much. Pete Lover

Does anyone know of a great PT mechanic in Minneapolis?

My brother's friend in Lino Lakes is a good guy, but he HATE's PT's.

I'll see if he'll do it.

2000 is way too high, you could buy new Snap On tools, do it yourself,
and go on vacation for $2k!

If he won't do it, and the weather is good, I could do it in my lot.

Yes.

Spoke to my brother's friend in Lino Lakes, Mike Erickson, he worked at a Roseville shop off Lexington & County Rd. B for two decades, then they laid off half the mechanics during the downturn.

He went thru the flat rate manual and thought he could do it for around $500,
perhaps a bit more as I suggested that he used the Chrysler water pump.

I've known him since he was a kid, but my two brothers use him exclusively for their VW diesels- If you want direct references i could give you their numbers

I'll PM you Mikes.

That's great. Thanks for your help. Maybe he would be up for replacing the front fenders, they both have hit and run dents (city living I guess!)

Thanks again, it would be great to get my PT up and running again.
