Default A/c Problem. Help?

Hello, I'm fairly new. i like browsing i don't really like posting unless i can fix someones problem or if someone can fix mine.

Now, My ac doesn't work. i think i have found the problem, and its a crack in a tube. what would be a quick fix or how much would it cost to replace the tube?

Please get back to me. i would greatly appreciate it.

Ty,
RedEmma

Emma, there's really no fix for a cracked tube except to replace it. It means loosing all the old R134a and capturing it in a proper container. Usually not a home project.

Never heard of a stop leak for A/C but that doesn't mean there isn't any. The A/C system is under a lot of pressure, can't see how it would work.

Yes, replacing the bad part and recharging it should get you up and running as long as there's nothing else wrong.

ok so, i took it to a mechanic that i know, and he said that basically, everything is fine, and it even has free-on and it isn't lacking any. he said that the compressor is fine as well, and the whole ac system is working as it should. he said its something electrical. do you have any ideas on what it would be?

You never said what year your PT is but if it's between 2001-2005 you have a black box in the engine compartment called the PDC (Power Distribution Center) and inside are fuses and relays. The No#11, 10 Amp fuse is for the A/C, you need to check that. You also have a high pressure switch on the compressor itself and a low pressure (recycling ) switch on top of the accumulator. Either one of those could be bad.

I found a collection of questions and issues related to air conditioning on the PT cruisers and have posted it in the Tech/Perf section. Here is a copy you can download at your leisure, it may be of some help: PT Cruiser Air Conditioner Issues/Questions
