Default Top timing cover off when purchased

Hi, I'm new to the forum and just purchased a 2002 PT Cruiser. So far, I like it and look forward to driving it.
The previous owner must have attempted to and did, replace the timing belt. Unfortunately he left the top outer cover off. I have a replacement cover and found out that he must have left something else off behind the belt that the outer cover mounts to. Could someone tell me what it is? I have a bad feeling that I am going to have to backtrack and remove the timing belt again to install whatever is missing...or maybe someone has a better idea?

if i recall correctly, cover attaches to a post between the two gears, and one on the outside.

if they're broken off, it might stay by itself.

I wouldn't worry about it. On a PT that area's pretty protected, so unlikely to get too much snow in it.
