Default No start with new pcm with programming

Hi,

We have a 2001 2.0 litre pt cruiser
I sent our pcm to goecm for repair.

They returned it and flashed the vin to it.

Now the car struggles to turn over, it cranks but not smoothly almost as if the wring firing order or something.

The red security light goes off when the key is inserted.

Anyone have any idea or how to help? Thanks

Is this a over seas car with 2.0? What was the original problem?

Yes, when swapping to a 2.4 you need to alter spark plug wires-

I'd assume they flashed it for a 2.4 so the reverse is true.

Do a search on Neons.org for swapping plug wires for a 2.4 swap, then do the opposite.
Really not much difference, 2.4 rev limit will severely limit 2.0's performance

Yes, this is a UK model right hand drive.

Go ecm said they flashed it to the vin which reported a 2.0 litre engine.

Any idea what would cause it not to start now?

The original problem was the transmission computer failed, sowe sent both in for checking. After they came back the engine wouldnt start.

Just for grins and giggles go back over all the things you did and check the connections just to make sure they all seated properly. Also check that none of the pins accidently got bent.

Thanks, but have checked amd reseated everything.

It just seems the computer is putting out the wrng firing order, could it be there is special software for the right hand drive model?

If I were you, I would contact them and tell them you are sending it back to have them check their process. If it is something they did wrong, then all our postulating here is not going to fix it. These pcms should be "plug and play" if they have been programed correctly by the vendor. Reprogramming has been done hundreds of times by many vendors and the process is just that simple. I've replaced one on one of my customers PTs.

Hey Jerry,

Its actually been back and forth to GOECM twice now, each time they have reflashed and verified their flash.

Could it be their system does not support RHD UK models?
I gave them the correct VIN, and that VIN reported on their end the 2.0 litre engine. So everything on their end checked out fine.

Anything else I could be missing.
By the way, the car could start up fine before we sent the PCM out, just the trans was stuck in 2nd.

Would you suggest I contact a dealer somewhere in the US, and send the PCM for checking there?

Thanks!

OK I just spoke to GOECM again to find out what they did, seems they replaced the EEPROM which contains the engine programming, the one they replaced with must be a US model for the 2.4. Where can I get the proper EEPROM for a 2.0L engine to put back into my PCM?
