Default A/C Suction Line

Hello there,
my 2005 ragtop GT air started blowing warm air (well, the air temp from the outside and I live in Florida).
I took it to the Dealership and they said that it was the A/C Suction Line and it takes a long time to replace it and that they have to fill up the freon again which is expensive.. total cost to me is 500.00 for everything..
Question - don't they capture the freon and then replace it with the captured freon?? does this price sound high?? I think it does....

Thanks,
Gatorgal!

I'm not as a/c proficient as I would like to be, but you very possably have already lost all of your freon because of the problem with the a/c hose so there is no freon to pump out. The freon they put in will have to be new.

Do yourself a favor and go to one (or more) of the larger "a/c service only" businesses in town and get a second opinion/price. They will usually give you an estimate for free. This will give you really good feel for the correct price to pay. Come back if you feel the need.

The dealer's price includes that suction line which is very expensive. If I remember correctly it was about $250.00 for my part. You ARE talking about those two lines that run together, just above the upper torque strut (maybe you call it an upper motor mount)?

Maybe another A/C mechanic will charge less for labor, though.
