Do you want your car to stop? If you do, don't go cheap on brakes...

Agreed, unless you want to get rid of the wife. You get better pads and rotors and they will last longer.

Let me give a bit of advice. At work we all have 3/4 and 1 ton chevy vans. We can do our own work or take to a shop (depending if we want to make a little extra cash ourself or if its to much for a weekend, etc.) .Anyway i do my own brakes same as another guy does his own.

He takes the cheap route and gets whatever is the lowest price, me i always get the best ceramic pads. Now i usually get 70,000 or more out of mine but he only gets 20,000 or so. Our vans are loaded fairly heavy too so i also want to make sure i can stop when/if i need to as well.

If you plan to keep the car, the higher priced/better made will be cheaper in the long run. Because the cheap ones will need replacing 2 or more times compared to the better grade.

These guys are right!

Unless the rotors are worn down to the fins, just get some decent pads and
keep the OE rotors, they're 10x better than a cheapie, even if they do fit!
You could put a non-directional finish on them.

Cheep brakes will stop. They will probably stop real well for a little while. There softer and will ware quicker and dust up your wheels and caps. Better off to step up to at least a gold pad if not higher. Cleaner running and last longer.

You can still buy organics in some pad series, and the vehicle will need huge amounts of pedal pressure to stop.

My dad bought a truck, asked the dealer to replace the pads before he bought it-
and they did ...

But what the hey, it's his vehicle and his money and his philosophy- all things are the same, some people just charge more ...
