Default NGK Plug stock #4306 LVTR5A-13

from Nivo's post on SRTforums.com, we figured you guys need this too!

Ok guys after a lenthy talk with NGK R&D I was able to come up with way more info on this topic!

Finally NGK has released the NGK plugs for the 2.4L chrysler A853 engines.

Here is the number again:

stock number #4306
Part number LVTR5A-13

m.s.r.p. $5.58 each
retail $3.46 each

Here is more info on this subject, NGK was to be the original plug for the SRT-4 but Champion beat the pricing (lowest bidder). after this was said and done NGK was left with 300,000 pieces(spark plugs) but now they are releasing them to the aftermarket!

These will fit the turbo and non turbo versions of the A853 engine.

Some plug info:

These are a step colder than the Champion RE14MCC5.
Special design
Tapered seat
extended projector (the V designation on LVTR5A-13)
.050" gap (-13 designation)

so there you have it, a step colder than stock and direct replacement as these were to be the OEM supplier of the SRT-4 plugs.

I found a different part number on the NGK website.

Spark Plug Part No. Stock No. Plug Gap Photo
V-Power LZTR5A-13 --- 0.044

http://www.ngksparkplugs.com
The biggest search for plugs seems to be the iridium design over the platinums.
These are regular copper plugs shown on the website:
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/product...200&country=US

Are you telling us that there is a different part number lVtr5a-13 that is platinum or iridium?

The Champion 3032 is a single platinum one heat range colder.

Here's what I have on the NAPA parts server:

The one we mentioned is the right plug and it's a brand new part number (part #LVTR5A-13 and stock #4306) as it has just been released to sell in the aftermarket! We, and some other members of www.srtforums.com, have tried calling the major part stores and nobody has this spark plug yet. In fact, NGK made it sound like they have not actually distributed the plug yet to the vendors. SO, we may have to wait a bit before this plug shows up in the stores. And, NGK doesn't list this plug on the site yet either.

I have been kinda hounding NGK since last summer for a colder plug. I race my car and go thru spark plugs like most people go thru socks! Today Nivo called again and said that he is an administrator on the srtforums.com and we have about 7k people clammering for this plug so what is the hold up?! Not to mention the PT Cruisers and other 2.4L Chrysler cars! So we hope that compelled them to get them out to the distributors asap!

You may not know it, but my job is parts.
NGK is one of my vendors. I am a NAPA sales manager.
I'll make a few calls.

I still need verification. Are the plugs you seek copper or platinum or iridium?

I also own a performance shop. I wonder.... why you are damaging plugs? I race IHRA with supercharged and nitrous engines. Properly tuned, they do not eat spark plugs at all. I build a lot of race cars, from big-block domestic iron to import aluminum.

Thank you, can you find out when this plug will be out?

these plugs from what we got at the R&D from NGK are copper plugs , they were supposed to be the direct replacements for the SRT-4. Since we use the unleaded race fuel the additive fouls up the plugs quickly, this only happens during the racing season. They are not getting damaged at all, just fouled from the MMT in the unleaded 104.

but let me know about the plug number.

Maybe you should look into a different fuel.
I am the local supplier for Unocal-76 race fuel. I sell 100 octane unleaded and 110 octane leaded fuels.
NO ONE has experienced any fuel fouling of the plugs.
None of my customers pour any bottles of magic octane (ie: retail 12oz. octane in a can).

Keep in mind that 100 octane will actually slow down a non-boosted car with less than 10.2:1 compression. Octane does not make power, it provides resistance to pre-ignition by being harder to ignite.

we have sunoco 104 unleaded...

and from a site about race fuels...

If you "read" spark plugs to tune your engine, the redish-brown MMT residue makes useful readings impossible. Levels of MMT octane boosters just moderately beyond the recommendations of booster manufacturers will foul spark plugs, damage oxygen sensors (O2S) and plug cats. High percentages of MMT contaminates engine oil and leaves hard metallic deposits in the combustion chambers, piston tops and upper end of the cylinder walls such that engine wear is greatly accelerated. Do not use them in concentrations higher than suggested by their manufacturers.

now about them plugs

The MMT is why I suggested trying to find a different fuel supplier. Unocal-76 100 octane does not have any metallic additives!

Read the specs here:
http://www.cosbyoil.com/racegas.htm

"Sunoco GT 100 contains no metallic compounds to harm catalytic converters or oxygen sensors"

I have several choices in my area, including Torco, Unocal, and Citgo race fuels. Unocal is my best choice because it's MMT free and isn't blended to order by the tanker driver. Torco has had some supplier troubles when they mix the octane wrong during delivery.
