Default Another reversing light thread

Reversing light doesn't work - I've checked the voltage to the bulb holder and it is reading 12v. I've tried 3 new bulbs, and swapped the holder from the rear fog light which works and it still won't come on. The original bulb and holder work ok in the fog lamp side as well.

Is there a correct sequence to fit the bulb - ignition on, then reverse, whistle the Welsh National Anthem and then fit the bulb?

Also, should it be a double filament type or single? The holder is for a double type, but I've also tried the single by cutting off the side lugs.

2004 2.2 CRD (GB) if that's any use

Thanks in advance

That is of great use because now I can't go by the U.S. model schematics. Maybe someone from Britain will come along and answer your querry.

Mine didn't work and was a bad transmission reverse switch Mine is located just on top of the transmission, right under the battery...To check it, I unplugged it and jumped the switch with a piece of wire and the lights worked, so I went to rockauto.com and ordered one..I believe was like $12

The switch works OK as there is 12v there when in reverse and 0v when in neutral

Maybe I'm wrong, but I had the impression the switch works by cutting the ground not the positive, so you may have 12v at the socket..

Checked across both terminals, not directly to earth, incase there was a dodgy earth.

Tried everything I can think of - it even makes a ding noise when I pull the bulb, so it knows the bulb is fitted

What would you suggest if it wasn't European spec?
