2005 PT cruiser, 83000 miles............non turbo............live in Colorado.........

now that that's out of the way, which oil do you all recommend? full synthetic? synthetic blend? high mileage?

due for my first oil change in it in about 3 weeks

All are good. But if your going to blend, do it your self. That way you have some idea of how much synthetic is actually in your car. Full syn. is of course the best.

is it "ok" to just switch to full synth?? or is there a break in period or something?

also is there a high mileage full synth or is just normal synth ok?

Switch away and normal is fine, advanced auto has great sale on Castrol synthetic this month with a long distance Bosch filter. You can extend your oil change intervals if you want. I do 5k instead of 3k some people go longer.

No problem with the change over and syn. is the high mileage oil! The closest Mercedes dealer has a program were they pick-up your car and service with synth. and return it, every 10K. So you pick your interval.
