Default cold air from heater

I am not getting the heat from my heater that I used to get. I had an over heat, resurfaced the cylinder head, new timing belt, water pump and thermostat. The engine stays cool at speed, but will get hot when stopped. I will not get much heat when I try to use the heater as a supplement to the cooling system. I know I need to diagnose the cooling fan. I have bled the system, but still very little heat. What is the problem here?

sounds like a clogged heater core. in the olden days when one could almost sit in the engine bay with the hood closed due to all the excess room, we used to flush the core with a garden hose. i don't see why it would be any different these days. heater cores can't be much different now.

thermostat is stuck open or incorrectly installed. just because it's new doesn't mean it's not junk. i always buy the mr gasket balanced failsafe thermostats because i've had too many cars do exactly what you describe. also cheap ones don't even open at the temp they're supposed to half the time.
