Default Axle Bolt

I know nothing about cars and hoping someone can help me. Twice in 5 months the bolt that holds the axle on my 2005 PT Cruiser has split right in half. The shop I take it does not understand why this has happened. I have about 94,000 on the car and would like to keep a couple more years and I this is the third PT Cruiser I have owned. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Default Re: Axle Bolt

There isn't a bolt that holds the axle on-
There's a 'spline' that shears only in extreme situations.

Perhaps there using incorrect terminology- Ball joint pinch bolt?

Well better yet is it front or rear? Front are trans axles and the rear id like to call a cross member. Im not too sure s'not the front but I know there's bolts in the rear holding it in place. Please let us know so we may be able to help you further
